19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A comeback the Russian player claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Now training with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks his initial title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Success also signifies he has secured 21 championships at 21 various competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.
The player's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.
However the player has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.
The opponent saved 4 early break points in a tight final set before the Russian broke to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
