Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team access locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

From episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
